Improve Your IMCA Sport Mod’s Stability and Handling with A One-Piece Spoiler When it comes to circle track racing there are a lot of variables in how your race car reacts to the track surface. Shocks, sway bars, tires, weight placement, and of course power output all play a part in your race car’s handling and traction (both forward bite and side bite). Depending on the class you are racing you may or may not be allowed some “aero” on your body. When it comes to IMCA racing and the SportMod class, and whether you are running under IMCA Northern SportMod rules or Southern SportMod rules, you are allowed to run a rear spoiler. This rear spoiler no doubt helps with rear downforce, affecting your race car’s traction and handling as well. Depending upon series and class and the engine you are running will determine what your rear spoiler height limit will be. Our IMCA-approved SportMod rear spoilers are made from 0.063" 3003-H14 aluminum with the main spoiler being one piece for strength. The braces, or end plates, are made from the same material, with all three pieces being pre-bent and drilled for assembly and installation to your body using standard 3/16-inch rivets. The 5-inch spoiler shown here is currently the IMCA Northern SportMod rules approved version for when a crate engine is used. The 66-inch long one-piece spoiler features a total height of 5.60-inches, which includes a .50-inch top lip bent at 30 degrees.
